It's always the simple, overlooked things in an unnecessarily complex analysis:
"And then the big one, anthropometric characteristics. That is, they measured the mass and size of the calf and found that Tadese had a significantly smaller calf muscle than the Caucasian runners, who had Running economies of 211 ml/kg/km."
I am probably being too lazy here (i.e. I didn't read the article), BUT are they really comparing Caucasian runners with... Tadesse? What if Tadesse had a really big nose?? Would they conclude that was why he was running faster?

Yes, you're being extraordinarily lazy. It's a two minute read that provides a limited summary of a one person study on Tadese that has some interesting findings. There are no sweeping claims or conclusions, just a primer to delve more into the subject later.
also, there is a larger study done comparing more of Eritrea's best runners with Caucasian runners done by the same author. The conclusions were similar, so that helps substantiate some of their claims.
Lastly, there claims match up with the studies done comparing Kenyan runners to Caucasians.
