Ray Flynn's thoughts on the attempt at the WR.
It's cool to have the hometown paper writing a bunch of articles about stuff like this.
some info on the lineup. note i saw something out of tegs mouth and it said nothing of the meet, only prefontaine. so maybe { jager, riley, solinsky } and another?
The Ducks will field a team that includes senior Galen Rupp, junior Andrew Wheating, Centrowitz and either Biwott, Scott Wall or James Withers.
Oregon Track Club Elite runners Will Leer, Ben Bruce and Gabe Jennings are also expected to be at the meeting. The tentative OTC Elite lineup for the 4-by-mile relay is Tom Brooks, Stephen Pifer, Russell Brown and Jennings.

I heard mottram is going to join the Aussies.
His mile PR is equivalent to a 3:30 1500m

Why would you quote a 7:55 when he's gone 13:25 in the 5k? His 1325 is much more indicative of his 3k and 1500 ability. Also his 1500 pr is 3:50, so he does have a time.
Why wouldn't you look at the date of the post and think what St Lawrence's best PB was then...... muppet.

more like a 3:31-mid, retard
3:48.98 ain't ****
he's good for probably 3:55-6 on a relay in the shape he's in now
that said, Mottram's 8:03.5 was sick nasty, easily worth a sub 7:29

be nuts if Australia comes out and give the WR a scare. Go DUCKS!
Oregonlive.com blog reports the 4xmile attempt may not happen, due to other teams backing out of participating.

If Oregon uses closed exchanges, they will get the record easily.
dang, could get scrubbed, i guess i understand pros not wanting to possibly get beat by college guys but it is already happening at plenty of meets. guess when it's a relay team against a relay team it rubs it in more, but this is a dissappointment. teams could be going for world records here. jerry's crew could have certainly broken the AR.
i hope they go for it, but if not maybe they should all 7 or so ducks as well as OTC guys and others go bang out a mile and see how many can get under 4:00.
One way for Oregon to potentially save some time would be to begin the first leg with all three of the guys they're now considering for the final spot in the race (Biwott, Wall, and Withers). This way, whichever guy finished first would be the one to hand off to Wheating/Centrowitz/Rupp. In this scenario the guys that finished 2nd and 3rd would have no one to hand off to, but they still would have helped in pushing the third guy (whoever ends up being fastest that day) to faster times.
16:03 Ducks??? Look, haven\'t these Ducks exceeded most posters expectations on here? They are at home, they will have lots of help/competition from the other teams, Centro is running great, no way they DON\'T break 16:00.
u missed the part about most of the comp./help ducking the event.

Or they could cut across the infield instead of running full 400 meter laps.
Truth is if they really wanted competion to be there, they'd pay for some competition.
Here's a case where all that N money is working against the Ducks. Everybody talking to UO knows who runs the show.
Taking the lowball offer is just bad business.
Rats, I knew I should have waited to buy the tickets...Oh well, I'll be at Steelhead brewery probably before and after the meet. Anybody know if Ninkasa has a pub yet?
This is a lame comment; unless you have any REAL KNOWLEDGE of any monetary compensation offers made to the competing teams...
Historically this is a tough event to cadge together...around the world. Otherwise some East Africans would have done it and broken it a long time ago.
