franklin field is not rupp certified. alberto found a small divot on the backstretch in lane 5. plus, rupp's kryptonite is the cheesesteak. bringing him to penn would be like throwing superman back to his home planet.

What events did the Californians win medals in at Beijing? What events do the majority of the Oregon-based athletes compete in at the Olympic level? What events are completely dominated by West African runners at the Olympic level? What Oregon-based athlete was considered a legitimate medal contender in a distance race in Beijing? Relativity is an important consideration when arguing one thing against another. It's not all just apples and oranges. How many California based Olympic medalists from 2008 set American Olympic bests in events such as the 10,000 meters?
It's not quite that complicated. The numbers Zero and 10 is all we hear from running and track fans in our state.

the oregon crews you are talking about are distance focussed, how many distance runners from california competed at the olympics? oregon based?
go ahead mr. numbers (who is clearly NOT located in oregon) do the numbers and post it for us. 800-marathon.
just oregon based vs. california based distance runners at the olympics. this is lets run (not let sprint, jump & throw) and it is clearly dominated by distance fans and the oregon crews are clearly focussed on distance development, so putting things into perspective, what do your numbers show?
i think your point is silly anyway, but since your so persistant why don't we so if you are even right.
And what is the population of Oregon vs the population of California?
Duh.

I'm not sure you are in the same Oregon as myself.
It's o.k. here. At least we are trying to do something for the sport. But we should not bullshit ourselves the way the Nike cult wants us to. Zero means zero, and that means zero.

since u didn't bother addressing my question ur gig is up:
score 2/10
Stop by Oregon this summer for the Prefontaine Classis, USA Outdoors, etc. or in the fall for NTN. It's really nice here, rarely does it freeze like the rest of the U.S.

I don't see how this was a response to anything.
Your argument is the same as would be the argument of Ethiopia/Eritrea/Kenya rating their own success from 100m to 400m and the sprint relays and perhaps the shot put. Putting down Oregon (where you claim to live) because a bunch of Californians win medals in events the USA traditionally dominates with athletes living and training in ideal conditions for said events is not relevant.
I would say, though, that the success of the Oregon Track Club, UO guys like Wheating and Rupp, Alberto's crew (Rupp and Kara), and Hudson's stud Ritz are all pretty impressive end results to the first Olympic cycle buildup since Eugene/Oregon have come back into their own these past few years. There is an outside chance that Oregon based runners will medal somewhere between 800m and the Marathon somewhere in the next few Olympic cycles. If that happens, even 1 or 2 medals in that range, it would be quite a success considering the East African (born) domination of the distance running wing of Athletics.

What the hell is wrong with this guy?
I don't know where you really live but you must be in the wilderness somewhere. We get cable, satellite, internet, broadcast TV, and watch and read ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Track and Field News here in Oregon, in addition to the local promo/PR. The state of Oregon is like any other state, it doesn't matter what anyone says, it only matters how many Olympic and WC medals you win. Everything else is just fluff.

If Teg and Solinsky aren't at 100% (are they even ready for a mile?) and Eagon hasn't joined the group yet, who are they going to run?, Jagr? , Lincoln?, Riley?..and Nelson and Bairu seldom run anything shorter than 5K and usually mostly 10K. Seems a little fishy.

I don't even have a clue what kind of point you could be trying to make here. Either I'm missing something big or I have just learned what these others mean by calling you a troll. I'll have to look it up. Anyway, off for a run in the dark down the Rexius trail. Adieu.
I checked his IP address. \"South Eugene Runner\" lives in Iowa or uses an HTTP proxy server in Iowa.
We love Eugene. Eugene Rocks ! Ducks. Quack quack quack .

Nike is a "cult" because idiots like you drink the its aid. the more you criticize the stronger its hold on you.
Now I think I hate Oregon more than ever. Instead of going to penn to compete against other college teams, they are going to essentially be rabbitted by a bunch of professional runners to try an break 16. Really, really lame. I guess Nike really wants to buy the 4xmile record.
