This is a serious question from a young 25 year old guy that has been in a relationship with a girl for 5 years; I'm thinking about moving somewhere random and just running and partying for a while. The GF and her family are expecting me 'get serious' here soon, but I'm not ready for that. I want to go have some fun...but am scared to actually go through with it.

That is a miserable way to live life. I feel sorry for you. That sounds much like what my marriage was like over quite a few years. Every day was painful to come home.

Either fix it or end it but don't keep living like that. Life is too short. If she won't work on fixing it than figure out how to end it as painlessly as possible.

Maybe you both need to find out what makes each of you happy.

The same thing happened to me. She took every cent I had and left me with $100,000 in debt, mostly on credit cards. It turns out she hated my guts from the first day she met me but figured the pay was good. (She left a diary outlining her plan.) The first one to file usually wins. You better start taking care of the money and get a good lawyer.

Happiness does not come from what you do for yourself, but from what you do for others in need. Do either of you volunteer on a regular basis - visit nursing homes, drive people home from the hospital, check up on elderly neighbors, etc.?

What does your wife do to help other people? Does she work also? Does she help around the house? Who does laundry, cooking, cleaning, chores, etc.?

When did this attitude of hers start?

Dude, i was EXACTLY where you are (except i earn even more money that you do) and got divorced after 11 years of a pointless sexless marriage. My advice to you is to get out as soon as possible. My life has never been better. Dating is fun -- and you will soon realize that the majority of women like and want sex even more than we do. Our wives are the outliers and are useless unappreciative bitches. There is no need to be with her. Get out now.
