i heard kara goucher is running it. salazar said he would not be surprised to see her break 1:06:00, note the fastest time on a slightly downhill half marathon is pauka radcliffes 1:05:40, while the fastest time on a legal course is lornah kiplagats 1:06:25, the article was on trackandfieldnews.com front page yesterday.
i am not sure, but i think sammy wanjiru is also running.
It appears that the course has been changed, so no longer considered 'downhill' for record keeping purposes.

So if Salazar is making a sub 1:06 prediction for a 'flat' Lisbon course, he is saying that Kara will beat the current world record which is:
WR 1:06:25 Lornah Kiplagat (NED) - Udine, 14/10/2007
Men's elites also in the same iaaf link as above...
This year organizers of the race, which has witnessed 23 sub-60 minute performances in its history, is looking to carry on that tradition with four aces in the men’s starting line-up: the 2008 Olympic Marathon champion, and Half Marathon World record holder, Wanjiru (58:35); three-time London Marathon and two-time New York Marathon winner Lel (1:00:49); Cheruyiot (1:00:06), a four-time Boston Marathon winner; and Moroccan Jaouab Gharib (59:56), the Olympic Marathon silver medalist, and former World champion.
But the quality field doesn’t end here. A number of 60-minute men are expected on the start line, including Kenyans Elijah Keitany (1:00:10), winner of 2009 Ostia Half Marathon; Emmanuel Mutai (1:00:49); Augustine Togon (1:00:52); Silas Sang (1:00:34) winner of the Portugal Half Marathon last September; David Kemboi (1:00:44); and another Moroccan, Falil Abdullah (1:00:43).
Other runners looking to join the sub-60 clud include Kenyans Joshua Chelanga (1:01:01) and Felix Limo (1:01:15).
Wanjiru might be wanting to improve on his old record and put it well out of the reach of Haile.
Hmmm.... a couple observations.
Is it Wanjiru going to go all out with London only 5 weeks off?
Is Cheruiyot going to be the runner-up yet again? Just checked out his past results and he's consistently second:
http://www.lisbon-half-marathon.com/en/bestperf.htm
Where are they getting seed times? Both Lel and Cheruiyot have run a sub-60 in this race before.
Firstly, lel and cheruiyot have indeed ran sub 60 but in the previous lisbon course which was not iaaf-certified.
About Wanjiru going all out.I too have doubts;i think he will be more focussed on watching the 'shape' of his protagonists in London marathon.
This race is going to be very interesting.I suspect for the first time non of the top guns will want to win or go all out ,instead they'll be checking out each other's shape for the coming battles in london and boston respectively.I would bet on a 'new comer' winning it.
My preditions:-
New comer- sub 60
Lel/Wanjiru-low 60
Wanjiru/Lel-low 60
Cheruiyot
Gharib
Felix Limo-61.30
As for women, i suspect Kara will run 66.30 for 1st postion( no World record).
Silas Sang for the win over Wanjiru. Go Silas!
Wejo and Rojo are predicting that Wanjiru will win in 59.01.I beg to differ,i reckon Wanjiru ( though is capable of winning) will not over-exert himself in a half marathon 5 weeks before london marathon when he will be competing aganist the very same guys he will be racing on sunday.I wish this race was live because i think it will be very interesting to see the mind games that these guys will surely play on each other on sunday.i think the one person that will enjoy this race is Robert Cheruiyot, simply because his main challengers for the boston title will be absent.otherwise for wanjiru, lel, mutai, gharib and limo it is going to be a very strategic race that could affect individual's London marathon performance.
Watchful eye... nice predictions! Did you watch the live feed. Did Wanjiru let the lead pack go, or was he actually struggling?
