any difference? spike plate looks the same...anyone tried both?

I have worn both, the matumbo's cut my heels raw, but the ventulus were pretty awesome and comfortable. That being said, never worn either in anything over 5000. could be a defect in the my shoe with the matumbo's cause other guys on my team have them and have had no such scenario and love them. I would go with Matumbo, you feel really fast in them
the Matumbo is the "ULTIMATE" spike
Same plate, the only difference is that the Matumbo has the flywire upper, and the hole in the heel.
You're a jag, get back to studying!
the foam in the matumbo is "flashlon" while the foam in the vent 2 is "phylon". The prior being lighter the latter being substantially more durable
Who wants to sex Matumbo!?!
Don't go back to studying. You'd be better served to prepare for the upcoming fantasy baseball draft.
The Vent 2 is being phased out.
You mean the victory right? The matumbo has the reptilian graphics and 0 holes in the heel of the shoe.
The forefoot plate on the matumbo curved up a little too agressively on the outside of my foot.
no no dude your talking about the mamba
the victory and matumbo have the same upper
You are better off with a pair of Vent+'s. That is what I have. I bet the Matumbos or Vent 2's are easier to come by however. However again, you should go with the vent+'s for the fact that they are superior. Who wouldn't want a lime green mesh upper? I ran my 5k pr of 14:47 in them.

Can i get some proof here on this, I have heard no rumors that state nike is looking to phase out the shoe
So before you start the mass panick off 2009 can we please have some proof
It's not in their Spring 2010 catalog and it would make sense to phase it out because it is basically a heavier version of the matumbo.

Good to see a waterboy for his track team post.
Keep working on your Engrish and Puchuation and the times you flog will fly!
Matumbos are amazing spikes! Can anyone confirm if these are limited USATF edition one's. They seem to have a USTF flag inside, light blue.
Thanks
They are the USA edition, they also did China, Kenya and Ethiopian colour ways for nike athletes at Beijing. But they won't be going on sale to the public.
There isn't a big difference. In my opinion, the Vent 2s are much more comfortable, though they don't seem more durable (too early to tell for me). Matumbos are of course slightly lighter, and have removable spikes (Vent 2s have permanent 1/4th Xmas).
