There are more opportunities for skiing in the north.
There are more opportunities for skiing in the north.
For those who have changed this topic from pop v soda to a discussion on race relations, read this article AND the blog that follows and then tell me if you think racism/bigotry only exists in the south. For that matter, assess whether the south even has the most pervasively existing racism compared to other regions. New England lovers take caution before reading. And by the way, hate crimes and lynchings DO still exist in the American south with no to little media/news coverage at all. I would post other links but they would all get deleted before you had a chance to open 'em.

Ever heard of water skiing??
ok, so I grew up in CT and we called big sandwiches "grinders"
I now live within eyeshot of NYC and they call them "wedges"
When I order a "grinder" they look at me like Im from another planet-- hell, they say it all the time about 40 minutes from here and I know Im not the first new englanda to move here...... and why do they say "sammich"?
uuuuugggghhhhh
I hate the south....
Racism is still fairly pervasive and out in the open in the South. On the other hand, in some areas, northerners can congratulate themselves on being above that without actually having to DEAL with it at all.
When I return to Connecticut for Thanksgiving, I see the local paper, which always does a special edition about all the high school football rivalries in the surrounding towns. They include photos of all the teams. And it still surprises me - maybe it shouldn't - how many of those teams, some of them with 60 or 80 players, are all-White, well into the 21st century. Many of these suburbs are still quite segregated.
Without northern terrorists there would be no new money in the south. UPS for instance. Pepsi is better than Coke and that came from the great Commonwealth of NORTH Carolina. Without his special training at SOUTH OF THE BORDER in his youth, Geithner{sic} could never have made it all the way up to Secretary of Treasury.
I live IN NYC and I never hear the word "wedge" used to describe big sandwiches. "Sub" is more common.
