I'm sueing you b******* for busting my eardrums.
That year McDougal made the mistake of running the 5,000 at Mt. Sac, where he ran 13:20 and then the 10,000 at Cardinal. He admitted he was tired from two cross-country trips in such a short span. No one can say what he would have run at Cardinal had he not run Mt. Sac, but I'm pretty confident he would have run a decent amount faster.
yes lets see what he does at worlds! will he improve over his olympic performance with ethiopians 1-2 out with injuries??? i just hope he can hold this type of form when it really counts (Worlds not NCAA Champs)

F***ing nice!
please shut up.
this is not a fernandez thread, we all know he is talented.
is it so hard to be happy for rupp and not be so hard on him?
No love for Austin Abbott, nice run by him.

Nice run and good finish.
a few comments on the run....
maybe he went out a little fast, causing him to look a little unsteady at the end..... everyone who runs close to Jennings is going to look a little choppy.. Rupp just looked like a 10K guy doing some decent speed work........its quite childish and rather sickening to mock a top 3 distance runner of the USA because of personal mannerisms and personality.
The point is mute? What does that mean?

It's a really, really quiet one.

Agreed. This thread is pitiful even by Letsrun standards.
Rupp ran a 3:57.86 indoors, a time that many did not think was possible for him a couple of years ago. Rupp has had a phenomenal indoor season and is light years ahead of his 27:33 from a couple of years ago. He already has been and will continue to run faster times than he ever has before. American records will be threatened. This is a great story but some want to continue to tear him apart.
Let's leave Kenenisa Bekele out of this. Even Fernandez for that matter. Everyone knows what their PRs are. This is thread should be about a runner who is continuing to maximize his talent and getting better with every race. That's all one can ask for, whether you have the talent of Bekele, Webb, the local 16 minute 5Ker.
Absolutely right. One more word about teenagers running (adult) fast. It usually results in utter and complete burnout by the time their in the mid 20's. Almost always the same story...not many exeptions.
Let me ask you this, would you rather have a Fernandez running junior world records or winning the olympics years later?
I think the answer is clear, but we'll see what happens...
Him doubling up on the mile and a 3000 indoors makes me wonder if this might be a program that yet again is very short term...
...don't see Rupp doing anything like that...!!
You're stupid.
Fernandez hasn't come close to training as much as most of those teens in the past that you're probably thinking of. Why would he burn out? From 'running fast' alone? He certainly hasn't run excessive much mileage to this point in his career. He is extremely gifted. He just ran 3:55.0 BY HIMSELF. He has more upside than Galen did at the same point in their lives. Galen just ran 3 seconds slower in a competitive race.
Galen is almost 23 now. Fernandez turned 18 in the fall.

And Rupp is certainly better than his old 27:33 mark now, so the point in mute.[/b...] yada, yada
so the point is moot
Send more athletes to Brussels? How exactly will these athletes be forced to go? You do realize that they have free will and make these decisions on their own? They are not in HS or college and moved around at the discretion of their coach. You do get this don't you?
That was the gayest sub 4 I have seen.

Actually its quite adult to put down someone becuase of personal traits. That is why someone is cast as being marketable becuause of the way they look as compared to what they do.
