You don't need to post messages to yourself here, just write them on your hand or type them into your iPhone.
i think the decision was by the dean, not the AD, i hear he has a son on the team, why would he want to cut it then? I think this is TITLE IX oriented because they cut mens track, mens golf (costs little to nothing) and womens vollyball (which is more costly). they def added cheerleading to keep the quota back to 60/40 %. Track costs nothing to compete, they only had about 15-20 guys on the team (small considering its d1 status and comapred to other regional teams) from what i hear they still win conferences and attract many kids from the area. this team along with others wil be missed, obama has no plans to change titleIX anyway (seeing he has two daughters) They are blaming the cut on the budget to save their skins from the media.
1) Outdoor track is an expensive sport. Think of all of the equipment that must be bought. Jump pits, implements, facilities, etc. aren't cheap. If you're running a "distance only" program, are you going to host any meets? If not, your income level would basically be zero and your program would be a financial black hole.
2) If you are running a "distance only" program, you deserve to have your funding cut. Like it or not, track is a team sport. If your xc team is winning conferences every year but your track team finishes last becuase you don't have any field athletes, you can bet your track team will get cut.
umm actually they scored 6th out of 12 teams at indoor conferences this year with only a distance squad....i wouldnt have bet anything that they should have gotten cut.
qu does not even have an outdoor track, they use a highschools, they host a meet at yale in the spring (qu classic) and they dont spend extra money on anything but shoes.
I heard they weren't gonna be hosting that this year. Or any year in the future.
first of all we arent in middle school so we can stop with the stupid comebacks. second, i don't own an iphone. i dont even go to quinnipiac. but i will admit to running in their conference, and they are a class act with a great group of guys, and i can tell you right now that most of those guys would not be going to that school without scholarships from running. don't call people you don't know overpriviledged white kids, and don't comment on situations you don't know anything about.
Thank god they saved Varsity Cheerleading.

Yeah, because the media rabidly tears into every other athletic department that couches cutting middling track and xc programs as purely Title IX compliance. Oh wait, the media doesn't give a flying fuck either way!
Well whooptifuckingdo!!

So, some privileged white kids have slightly less opportunity, which is still basically infinite compared to the vast majority of people on this planet? Not a goddamned thing sad about it at all.
Well, it's not as sad as you are.
hahahahahaha
good one man, these just keep getting better
I suspect if you had attended college, you would know how to spell "grammar."

hate to be right all the time but if u look on the website it clearly says their hosting it wed the 8th....check your source
i think he was referring to the fact that they no longer have outdoor track so cannot host any track meets. supposed to be a joke-but thy aren't actually putting it into effect until 2010.
BTW That meet itself is a pretty big joke most of the time. They somehow get big name teams like Providence and Iona but the times are joke-its like a high school meet.(must be the freshmen walk ons from those two teams mentioned.
And, in turn, you're sadder yet than I, chump.
Maybe. But I'm probably not as much of a bigot as you.
I'm sure you believe that. Somehow substantive rebuttal of my statement still eludes you, however. Either you don't have the mental horsepower or I'm just right.
we're here to talk about the elimination of a college track program. if the only reason you're here is to argue and pretend that immature, snippy comebacks are worthy of making up a real arguement, get off the board. just because you said "substantive rubuttal" doesn't make up for the fact that one of your points was "whoopdief***ingdo." grow up and talk sense. insulting people doesn't make you smart or a good debater.
