You don't need all the gobbly goop. Just map out a course. It's not like it needs to be sponsored by Yoplait.

formerly present: "Ah," said Ezra. "Wait 'til you see where I put it."
Heh, thanks for the joke (though in reality this NYCer finds Ithaca just beautiful) - and a punch line which can spawn countless other setups.

I've been a race director plenty of times. If I thought people would even come to South Cakalacky -- and that the Johnsons wouldn't sue -- I'd organize the LetsRunVational.
Coming up with the distance is the issue. As well as terrain (roads, track, cross). At least one person would want the race on concrete...

Camp Verde location perhaps?
worse-than-mediocre:
i think, if this thread gets bumped enough and there is enough interest, it would be really easy to figure out what distance to race and what terrain.
just make a letsrun poll.
i think it needs the brothers' blessing to make it work, but i feel like they would not protest such a thing. it would probably make money as well as generate interest and be sort of a grass-roots promotion.
as well as being fun.
I believe we should race 15 miles. The race shall be all concrete and each runner will be required to wear the Gel Nimbus.
No arm warmers or any Nike gear shall be worn because letsrun hates any/everything involved with nike.
Taylor Swift shall be blasted from speakers throughout the course because thats what German listens to when he runs 3:56 miles.
There has to be a beer mile involved at some point. We can reference the beer thread to pick out some good local brews to drink each lap.
We should invite Pirate/Cat/Gun Girl to be the official race starter.

Right, Dannon sponsorship would be preferable.

Yikes, TxRg, I had no idea you swung that way. BRM will be intrigued, but I have to let you know I'm a cover hog.
nsmb: I picture this indie-rock goddess you speak of as being Lisa Loeb. Am I close?
Smitty: I'm a good sprinter.
This camp needs to be held soon so it can include a late 30th birthday party for Dan Wilson.
Mrs. Masterbooner: nsmb: I picture this indie-rock goddess you speak of as being Lisa Loeb. Am I close?
Oh my. Can you hook me up?
(wikipedias miss Loeb)
Too late; she married three weeks ago.
I did date a fantastically lovely Lisa L who lives across the street from me, and whose building had a fire which was extinguished but still smoldering when I returned home this evening. Hope she and apartment are OK; the block would be uglier without her.
You've got the right gender anyway. I shan't kiss and tell or play twenty questions, but I can say that her band has been mentioned on this board.

I was seeing the woman across the street...until she got drapes.

Just as long as I'm on top.
OK, I'm in! Just tell me when and where. Oh, and if it's a race, I vote for cross country. Just sayin'.

Perfect - I prefer the bottom! Just don't fall on me in the middle of the night.
Fair warning, Mrs. M: I'll have my ear to your cabin door, waiting to hear you croon that Cole Porter tune to tRg. Will you bring an instrument or should I anticipate an a capella performance? Haul up a bassoon and sheet music and I'll do my best if you wish.

At words poetic, I'm so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting 'em off my chest,
To let 'em rest unexpressed,
I hate parading my serenading
As I'll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty
At least it'll tell you
How great you are.
I can play bird calls and other melodies with just my hands, so I'll leave the singing to you....I'm presently sufferin' from le grippe, la post nasal drip, so best I not sing.

nsmb, a word of caution...if you care about your Indy Girl, you're wise to protect her identity. Mrs. M. has a penchant for passive aggressive moves, and is in actuality just a train ride from Brooklyn. In addition, one of her thuggish cohorts, no doubt lurking on this forum as we speak, is quite possbily your next door neighbor. Keep your eyes peeled for a dirty dishwater blonde male with thin, stringy long hair and a large earing that screams 'douchebag in mid-life crisis', and keep your GF's identity under wraps. Just some friendly advice.
ok..................
what kind of crazy mess did THIS thread turn into???? what are you people even talking about????????????????
Ah, it's The Secret Life of Walter (S)mitty. I'm apparently a gun-totin' Brooklyner with 10(+or-) years and 4 kids more than I have in actuality. Whatever. If this deranged woman wants to think I'm someone else, fine and dandy - it'll keep her from tracking down who I really am.
BTW - I actually never seen an episode of the Dick van Dyke show (I probably should rectify that) and never been to Brooklyn (two trips to NYC to play for some singers' auditions several years ago - I enjoyed my time in the city). But because of LR, I now know of a couple of nice people in Brooklyn....
