ha, that's a good one.
assuming that they were going to worlds and had already been gapped by fernandez, if not then of course not. I don't know how many us cross championships you have raced in or witnessed, but the finish order here is often not the same order as at worlds.
Yep, different courses usually yield different results. They did not back off. They simply got their asses beat.
Yeah they did, that was nuts. He must have thrown down a huge move to open up like that over the last loop! Strange thing is they all looked ok as they finished, tired but not dead.
In a qualifier race.
so let me get this straight, we will not be able to see coverage of this race?
I hate to say it but NYRR should manage all of these things. At least they can get the race some TV coverage and get video and pics up on their website. This is ridiculous.

And that's why neither Puskedra nor Derrick are National Champion.
30-second videos on RunnerSpace is what we will see of most of these races. No live stream, no lengthy videos, just some short videos and a bunch of twitter feeds.
Anybody have the Junior Boy's results for more than just the top 3??

Heck yeah, Oklahoma girl right there! Way to represent Sara!!!
Fernandez repeated at Junior Champion. Has anyone done that before?
The fact that it doesn't really matter renders the wherefores and whys moot. It doesn't mean much to win this title and it doesn't mean much to not win it. Ritzenhein wasn't hurt by not winning it and Billy Nelson wasn't hurt by winning it. What really matters is how they do at WXC, as at least the top 3 today should have been training past this race to peak in March.
McGregor dropped out?
Looks windy out there....

and McLaughlin is going to be GOOD next year. Real good.
Her form is weak as hell...and she has absolutely no kick...on the contrary, when she gets to the last 400m she seems to slow down if anything.
Take it easy kid. Fernandez ran fantastic. It's mid winter and a lot of people are using a lot of different training philosophies. Some are out to prove something ASAP (Fernandez), some are training through (Likely Derrick) and some have coaches with a very long term approach and a knack for peaking at the right time (Puskedra). People are sick all over the country right now so who knows how they are feeling (Fernandez included).
I'm not saying that Fernandez can't finish on top at worlds, but rather have some perspective about an early Feb. cross country race. I wish them all the best and hope they are all capable of top 20 or better races.
My guess is that Vin gave Luke a healthy break, at least in terms of speed work. He's likely doing more base training again and will redshirt indoors and outdoors. Derrek may just do the 5K at NCAA's as another fitness builder for worlds. Fernandez and his coach have to be careful not to let ambition get the best of them. I'm talking more about injury than peaking. Fernandez could peak early and still run stellar in the end, but if he gets injured it's useless.
Next year NCAA cross will be interesting. Chelenga, Fernandez, Luke & Derrik. Will Fernandez surpass Chelenga? Will he beat him this outdoor season?
