Look at all the records. WTF.
German Fernandez would have smoked Joe Falcon!
It's funny that you mentioned that. I was thinking the same thing. Falcon also ran 28:34 that same year so maybe if GF gets in a fast 10k somewhere we could see a new AJR record.

Quite a number of Canadians on that Arkansas records list - Doug Consiglio (Cambridge,Ont.), Graham Hood (Burlington,Ont.), Sean Kaley (Ottawa,Ont.), Matt Kerr (Fergus,Ont.), Jason Bunston (Hamilton,Ont.). Also Jumper and now coach Edrick Floreal (Quebec).

Sir, you must be mistaken. Everyone on letsrun knows the Hogs used Africans for all their championships.
I was about to call you out by saying that the time was indoors while the list is outdoors as well, but that list is for indoors ONLY. That really is crazy.
ridiculous

So what's up with Seneca Lassiter's 3:33 and A. Craig's 13:12 being Arkansas records, but not NCAA Records (Maree 3:35, 13:20 Nyambui)?
Does Arkansas consider any time ever run by an alumni? Kinda bogus if you ask me... if it isn't good enough for the NCAA, how can it be legit for the school record?

Most schools count records from athletes up until August after their graduation, when the athletes go to Europe. The NCAA stops at the NCAA Champs.
Their reasoning behind it is that the summer before they came to school wasn't part of college, so they get a full 4 (or 5) years.
Georgetown has its 800 and mile records from Europe, for instance. I think most schools do this as well. The NCAA counts only stuff "in-season."
Shouldn't Lagat's WR 3:49 be listed under USA?

The only records the NCAA maintains are NCAA Championship (meet) records. It's Track and Field News that stops its "official" Collegiate Records period with the NCAA meet each year (even if the athlete has remaining eligibility). They also keep a separate list for marks achieved after the completion of the NCAA meet.
Take a look again. El Guerrouj holds the WR. Lagat's mark on the Arkansas web page is for the Tyson Center, and it's listed as the AR.

Err. No. Joe ran 3:35 while at Arkansas... and split something like 3:53 at Penn in a ridiculous 9:20 dmr in '89.
German isn't there. We'll see what he does outdoors, but I'd wager he won't be running 3:35...

Nyambui's got the indoor record. The Collegiate best is Rono's 13:08.
Lassiters 3:33 was achieved after the close of the NCAA season.
Another thing people have to consider with indoor times is that the tracks have become substantially better in the last 20 years. Not to take anything away from German's great time, but Joe's time probably still is better if he wasn't on boards! Same with O'Shaunnessey's 3:55...
Not many Americans on that Arkansas list..
