Well we were in 3 man groups. So I guess the rest was about a minute each time. And we do other stuff in there besides bench like squats, powercleans, shrugs, pushups.. just not yesterday.

So in a weight lifting class, you just did one thing for 40 minutes?
If he wanted to make that day a chest day, then why not do pushups, flies, inclined, barbell, dumbell, etc.?
That way instead of one area of your chest being really sore, all areas of your chest will be pretty sore.
Now I know Ian is a troll, Noone on LR can bench 130 lbs.

I don't know, I'm not him.
And to the guy that says no one on LetsRun can bench 130. I actually used to bench 145 during football. And go look at the thread that says bench press/mile time. There were alot of people over 200 lbs.
***I put stars becuase this is important to the 100 mpw goal.
I am NOT OFF the wrestling team. My wrestling coach pulled me into his office this morning and laid a 30 minute guilt trip on me.
He said "How can you let my team down like this, I'm the only reason that you got to run cross country this year.(true) I'm the one that convinced you to stop playing baseball and run track.(not true) I didn't let ______ quit XC to focus on wrestling so why would I let you quit wrestling to focus on track. And he basically said I'm the second best wrestler on the team and it will be all my fault if we don't win the city Tournament if I'm not there.
.....
So now I have F*ckin wrestling to worry about again, and that means making weight next Saturday for the City Tournament.
I only ran 9 hours 10 minutes so far this week and I have a 5k race tommorow morning. I'm gonna run the 5k and then do a cool down type thing until my 5k time plus cool down equals 20 minutes. Then I'm gonna run back to the start. 20 more minutes.
That will only be 9 hours 50 minutes for the week.
I need to know what you guys think I should do after that. I think go home, take a nap. Get out the door at 12pm for a 2 hour run.
That will be 11 hours 50 minutes...maybe I'll go ahead and add 10 more minutes to that run to make it an even 12 hours.
Now I COULD run another 2 hour run later that daymto get to 14 hours. I feel like I owe it to you guys and myself to get 14 hours this week.
What do you guys think I do? 14 hours or 12 hours?
If you are really racing tomorrow, do not add 2 additional runs after your race. An easy run in the afternoon is plenty, no need to run for 4 hours. Use common sense.
Yea I'm racing. heres the race
I'm gonna give the race 100 percent. But IDK how fast it will be after taking all that break time I did.

You are STILL an immature idiot, kid. You don't "owe" us anything, but as long as you are feeling obligated in that manner it would be nice if you could avoid making any more inappropriately morbid jokes about the death of handicapped children.
Ian, good luck with your race tomorrow.

No you're wrong. He does owe it to me to run 14 hours this week. I mean I've read 5 pages of this thread and looked at his myspace, and you dont hear me complaining.
This is just too good to be true. Remember when I said you weren't committed enough? I guess I was right after all. If you're so easily convinced to keep doing wrestling, how come constant negative advice has not deterred you from running 100 miles/week? If you were truly committed to running, you would have just told that coach, "No, sorry, I can't because track is more important to me" but you lack the commitment to The Task. How many of the kids that went sub 9 in the 3200 last spring played another sport other than running XC/Track?

Personally, I'm not too impressed with his childish attitude OR his twisted sense of humor.
You sure as hell owe us something!! You "claim" to run 100 mpw, and you're like 5 hours off of it???
Give me a break! If you don't get 14 hours, you will not improve. Get to it!
This is letsrun, a community for runners, right? This guy is 17 year old and a dedicated runner and athlete. All the old jeezers and trolls putting this guy down are super lame.
Give useful feedback or encouragement, or get off this thread.
I, for one, wish him the best. Get ugly, man!
Did you read anything on this thread? There has been an abundance of useful information and encouragement to do it the RIGHT way. But he just basically spat in everyone's face. He gets what he deserves for claiming to be up for the task, but then bailing out come the first week. Everybody gave him good advice, but he just didn't want to hear it...
so true-this kid has big dreams but isn't willing to do it the right way.
You know what. I am gonna run 4 hours and 50 minutes tommorow. As I said, 40 minutes will be at the race. Then I'll take a short nap and I'm out the door. I'm gonna run those next 4 hours 10 minutes and something like this will probably happen.
Noon
Set out for 2 hour run. Stop/stop stopwatch if need be to stretch. I'll stop as many times as I need to get those 2 hours.
2pm
sleep until 6
6
set out on 2 hour run again and stop if I need to to stretch as many times as I feel.
I know that I won't get the most out of these runs by stopping, but it WILL be 14 hours of running. And at least 100 miles.
try 10 miles at 6:00 pace followed by 10 100m strides
God, this is a stupid thread.
First, if you are going to ignore the intelligent advice of those who have done what you are trying to do and been where you most likely are trying to go in terms of training why not just do the 15 arbitrary weeks at 100 arbitrary miles and then post the results once you have actually done the work. Probably because doing the work is harder than theoretically doing it and seeing what you can troll up in a few threads.. .
IF your improvement was successful I would personally find that a really interesting test. But if you can't run faster than 16:40 off 80 - 90 miles a week then this most likely isn't your sport and wrestling might be a better fit.
This is just childish BS and it's clear you have no idea what is really required of this undertaking and are an attention seeker. That being said, I hope you don't get injured because you probably do really want to improve. Additionally, I would add that your bench press results are meager and you really need to man up if you can't get through a week below 35 degrees. That is just ridiculous.
Bench Press - 140 lbs - FAILED
Running - 100 MPW for 15 weeks - FAIL
Trolling - SUCCESS!
I was NOT running 80-90 a week when I ran 16:40. Where did you get that from? I was running 35-45.
