Do you feel the same way about other less traditional academic pursuits such as Theater majors, Fine Arts, etc? If so, where do you draw the line between what is "educational" and what is not? IMO, and from personal experience, I would say that my participation in college sports certainly had a more consequential effect on my life than some of the courses I took. Emphasis on "some".
There's a big difference between attending college for an education vs. attending college for job training. Who is to say athletic teams don't add to the education one receives in college?
