some of this advice is awful. don't take painkillers, advil, anti-inflammatories. yes, that may work short term and make you believe it's better when it's masking the pain. not good long term though.find what works for you rather than what has worked for other people with different feet.
been there done that. wrote:
3) get a cortisone shot to clear up the inflamation. (you can rest til forever and it will not clear up on its own)
These don't always do the trick, it depends on each individual. I got one end of August this year in hopes it would hold up until my January marathon, but it didn't work at all. I mean the pain didn't subside any until I stopped running, kept stretching, icing, gradually strenghthed the feet.
one word: acupuncture
Take a good look at the non-athletic shoes you wear.
If you wear heel-less shoes (i.e. clogs, flip flops) you're gripping your toes to keep them on your feet, and in doing so you're stressing/flexing your PF. Solution: wear lace-up shoes.
Also, foot strengthing exercises with a towel really do work.
It'll heal.
Two words: Strassburg sock. Get one.
five words: cortisone shots & custom made orthotics.
You are Storming Norman from the English FRA forum.
I know it ,i can feel it in my bones>
I did a lot of what is suggested on here, anything from strengthening to the Sock.
The thing that got me better was having one of our athletic trainers break up the "crunchies," I believe it was actually crepitus, or scar tissue developed from the inflammatory process.
I had PF for 5 months. When they started breaking up all the "crunchies" in my fascia, I was healed in 1 week.
Good luck.
Is it from running.yah fascitis heal.iam a runner who averages 50-60 miles a week and had one that went away after a month.I mean i can run comfortably even if i have a very mild pain one iam sure iam not messing it again. For 4 weeks iwas getting into a hot tub for 10 to 15 minutes then do ultrasound for 5 mins plus massaging with a tennis ball. This quickens healing.

You really ridiculed someone because of one spelling error?I hope they found the info they were looking for because even if you were to have been decent, who would trust someone so bitter and hatefull.Just because you have nothing worth a shit to wake up for, don't be a dick to someone who isn't deserving.Like yourself.Your the type of person that it's alright to use violence on.thonner wrote:

I've run through it but I didn't have it in my heal, I had it in my heel. When you learn how to spell, and learn English grammar I'll tell you how to make it go away.

It's a shame you "called out" because of a spelling error.I highly doubt that you are "dumb".
Anecdotally, I have met a few runners whose severe PF went away when they started walking around barefoot. At this point, what have you got to lose?
Many sports physicians, Håkan Alfredson among them, consider cortisone shots to be a bad idea:

I had this about a year ago, and it took several months to go away completely. Not much you can do besides greatly reducing mileage, icing as often as possible, rolling your foot over a golf ball, and getting orthotics (sp?).
I work run specialty and to be completely honest, 90% of the people coming in with plantar fasciitis problems look like they haven't run a step in their lives. The problem is that we have weak legs. Instead of getting to the root of the problem, we go to podiatrists that are anxious to get us to buy $600 pairs of orthotics or we go and get some over the counter ones, rather than getting to the root of it all. Go run some barefoot laps on a grass field, clean up your form and let everything reset itself. Stretch out your calves and do some work with a towel to strengthen your arches. If I could, I'd probably tell 99% of the customers that I deal with to quit being babies, but unfortunately people never want to put the work in to fix the problem, they just want a band-aid. I had an injured IT band so I ran exclusively on grass and did 60+ MPW for 3 months and I have not had a single problem with my arches or heels while it runs rampant in both of my parent's families.

this^^ I will spare you the long story about how orthotics treated the symptoms but made the root cause worse, etc. My feet were weak. A few days going on long walks barefoot and my PF disappeared. If I don't do at least one 10 min run in my Vibrams/barefoot each week, it will come back. However, it is now completely gone. I also went minimal.
*I've had probs with PF:
Take 3 Advil 4 times a day
-----------------------------
*Not tried
Ice after every run and every three hours - freeze an empty 20 ounce coke bottle filled with water - roll your foot on it
-----------------------------------------------------
*Good try after shower switch to cold as well and run over sole of your foot esp in morning - I dont have time to piss around with bottels in the morning either does the trick
Get orthotics from a foot doctor
--------------------------------------
*I got some from shop try these and save time and money:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/scholl-orthaheel
Search same on US site! Your arch needs support it does not need to fit exactly in my opinion
Get a really cushioned running shoes like the Nimbus
---------------------------------------------------
*I find too much cushioning makes it worse everyone is different - I went for light neutral shoe with insert above
Never do anything barefoot - use Crocs or supported shoes the moment you get out of bed
--------------------------
*Agree esp in morning
Don't run on grass or uneven surfaces
---------------------------------------
*Agree on uneven for me mine is worse on road I can only run on grass over longer distances
If it doesn't go away in 3 months - take up biking, swimming, or rowing and give all your running gear to somebody who will get some use from it[/quote]
--------------------------------------
Disagree had for years until I did the above now getting much better. If it hrts where its attached to the bone it takes much longer to heal

Try this - really did the trick for me more than anything:
There is a lot of crap on youtube this is the best one:

Hold in lower position for 20-30 secs use bannister for support. Good luck
