This is not a good precedent for high school sports. Let adidas try the same thing with basketball or lacrosse or any other sport, either all national championships will come to an end or high school sports will forever be changed

While an athlete running NXN may indeed be on the high school indoor team, the two are completely separate. Traveling to NXN--in theory--has nothing to do with the high school. You are participating in a non-high school sanctioned event. Unless you are proposing that an athlete on a high school team should be barred from any activity that interferes with the season, then NXN isn't much different than a Church ski trip.
