You probably need to add 1-2 minutes for most LetsRunners.

haha, fair enough, which makes it even more silly. i can almost understand being near the elite level and struggling to let go and the bitterness that insues etc. etc. but to be completely out of it and act like that....well....it's sad.
Is he running at USAs?
Which effectively renders you the most pathetic of all. Stick to Dyestat to keep you entertained until 9th grade starts up in the fall for you.

Oops! One of those who is completely out of it suddenly got angry!
Not angry at all, kiddo. I clearly struck a nerve with you, though.

You were the one that raised your voice, not me.
BTW, I´m forty years old, and you´re not.
I had to google "Dyestat", but you seemed familiar with it.
You're wrong and you're just sad.

haha, true
I thought Adam Goucher was done until I read his wikipedia and realized he was 6th at World Cross in the 4K three years ago (impressive on the short course) just eight seconds back of Bekele, which I had forgotten. In 2007, he made our 5000m team for WCs behind Tegenkamp back when he was killing it and Lagat. Then last year, after very little training due to injury he busts a 27:59 for 5th at the Olympic trials? I'd say he's still doing pretty well. I'd have to imagine he still has a lot of room for improvement in the 10K and Half Marathon--although his chance for a peak 5K time (<13:05) probably would've been in 2006 when he was tearing up the 4K circuit in XC.
His 10,000 at the Olympic Trials actually was fairly promising, considering it came after a period of injury and quick ramp-up to racing.
The problem is (and I'm rooting for him as much as anyone, but I'm being honest), since then he hasn't really built on that 27:59 but if anything has seemed to be either injured or unmotivated, and the few races he's run always seem like rust-buster times.
Just based on what I know about him from reading articles, interviews, and the Buffaloes book, he seems like someone who has a really hard time when his running is going less than extremely well, so I imagine this is driving him nuts, all these 14 minute 5ks and 4:10-ish miles and so on.
He's not so old that a comeback is out of the question, though, and anybody who has observed him before (see the XC performances referenced above) is probably thinking it's always possible he could come out of nowhere with a nice PR for 3rd place at USA 10,000. I don't know if there's a tougher, more determined runner out there, if he can get the physical part together for a while.
Even for those of us that still think he's doing alright--isn't it strange to think Goucher was handing it to Abdi and Lagat throughout in college and now Lagat is a double world champ, 12:59 5K guy, and Adbi has been the most consistent 10K runner of the last eight years and run 27:16?
I think Goucher would be the first to admit that his post-collegiate career has been hit-and-miss due to (I assume) injuries. Extreme highs and lows.
Part of what you mention, though, is that both Abdi and Lagat have upped their game significantly after college.
Responding to the kid that said he'll never be in the last 2 laps of a world class 5 or 10k, watch the video of the Osaka World Championship 5k final. As I remember Goucher was still in contact with 2 to go at least.
Goucher's window for going sub-13:10 has probably closed, but he could likely still run a solid 10k (27:30) and perhaps give the marathon a go, if that's what he chooses to do. Either way, he has accomplished a lot in the sport and he has NOTHING to be ashamed of. He gave it a go last year in the trials and narrowly missed fading in with the chase pack. If he simply decides to devote himself to Kara's career from here on out and winning the local 5k WHILE pushing a baby jogger, then good for him.
has anyone run well for an extended period of time after leaving Colorado? How many has Wetmore run into the ground over the years
Kara Goucher?
This is spot on.
The message board could become a quality place overnight with mandatory registration of non-free email addresses. All the trolling bull @#$% would stop almost immediately.
It is a shame that the owners let it continue to be a venue for the childish morons who leave all the posts that we have to wade through to find the good information.
