No, YOU'RE A MORON
i can't wait to see these guys race. i would love to see them run a mile. cause rupp's still trying to break 4.
a 3k it would be close. a 5k and 10k on the track rupp wins.
an XC meet like ncaa 2006 bauhs wins it. (muddy as can be)
xc like 2008 ncaaa's, rupp wins it. (just like he did)

If you're gonna troll at least try to be creative. You've been banging the same drum for weeks now. Can't you do any better?

You mean world XC doesn't count as running against the "big boys" ?
Making a World XC team, and making World and Olympic teams are apples and oranges, since twice as many qualify, there is much less interest, and there are no A and B standards. But, ok, he was technically in the same race as the "big boys", placing 4th out of six on the US team at World XC.
However, what I meant by running with the "big boys", was against the full spectrum of US runners that one gets at USA Championships as opposed to NCAA div. II.

I don't really understand the logic here. Somehow running in the world XC championships is less a test of your mettle than running the 10k final at the USA national meet? I think I'd be safe in arguing that the depth is far superior at world xc.

Webb ran 3:52 for a mile as a high schooler, he was top five at NCAA cross his freshman year .
A lot of nonsense here

thanks for bringing this thread back up. i'd completely forgotten about it. i guess now we have a better picture of rupp's capabilities, as almost every one of his pr's has been reset this year (1:49, 3:57, 7:44, 13:18) and all were set indoors, one of them being a national indoor record. I still think Bauhs will have a tremendous amount of success in running in the future, but I think Rupp will have better chances at bringing home medals, if any at all.
Prior to 08-09 Rupp and Bauhs could be compared. I don't think this it true anymore. The numbers show it. He is just too good now.
D1 runners are always better than D2 runners. Bauhs would have a tough time hangin with the freshmen class this year. D1 baby. D2? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I can't believe this was ever an argument. Funny how things can change, eh?

I remember this thread, it was never a serious argument. Not like say Rupp vs McDougal vs Withrow where a good case for any one of them versus the others between highschool senior year to end of freshman year of college.
Great thread to read through.
It's good to know that Scott Bauhs will have a 2:05 AR by next year. Good for him.
