Nice article and pics. Good to see him in that jersey (long journey since the Ekiden) - and very good to see him leading this pack, AND still winning. He does have a bright pro future.

WTH??? Emily Bates, 17:23.. age 12???????
Typo in entry database. The Emily Bates from San Francisco I have in my database is 32 years-old.
David Monti, Race Results Weekly
What an awesome race. He really is a terrific competitor neither fearing big names nor a bunch of Kenyans. I am so curious to see how he will do on the track in 2009.
that's right.
22. Gabe Jennings 14:43
Stick a fork in him. This turkey is done.

What does this mean?
The time of 13:37, or 1337, translates from internet slang as being elite, or the phonetic slang, "leet."
13:37 --> 1337 --> LEET --> Elite
Time --> Number --> letters that the numbers look like --> phonetically similar.
The internet-savvy kids on Dyestat had a collective orgasm when Rupp ran 13:37 in HS, claiming it was an omen predictive of greatness.
It's great to see that Jim Sorensen is back. Very impressive 15:03 at 41.

I don't recall the second part (and I was there), but the first part is definitely true.

You're such a loser. What if he was taking it easy and just doing it for fun?
This why letsrun sucks... once you run some fast times you can't even show up to some podunk road race without the ocd running culture nerds scrutinizing your every stride...
i would love to think that he was just doing it for fun, as is the reason he does most things. the good thing about his training attitude is he never takes things so seriously as to risk not enjoying what he is doing in life, and i think that is important, but what i was really implying was that he is long past the days of having a chance at a championship in anything, and that's okay. he obvuiously loves running and continues to do it as it so fits him, and thats what counts. but even a 14:43 5k doesn't really compare to the 2:19 net downhill marathon he did a couple years ago. or does it?
I'm tempted to agree with you except if he wanted to just go for a fun run he wouldn't have ran in the Elite 5k.

Wow. That's the best way to reply when someone calls you a name: play it cool.
Now I feel like a total douche.
Touché.
Also good point on Jennings.
It was great watchin the race. I have to say though Gabe was working really hard. Im a bit of a running nerd but check this out... Gabe was in a pack of Boivin, Zapata, Endale, and an Asian guy Im not sure who. Gray was lurkin behind a bit. I run to the finish area and Endale and Gray have gapped them. So within 1k about Jennings went from leadin a pack to being swallowed by like 4 of them, and he is a damn miler!!!!!
SICK
His form is strange, you can even see a bit of it in the second picture in the link a few posts back.
Maybe you should not take this so seriously. It's a message board..........HMMMM?
Oh I think I saw you. Were you the angry guy yelling at everyone to get out of the way as you went back over the overpass? That was pretty funny

What does this mean?
Shens is short for "Shenanigans". When someone calls Shenanigans on you that is basically calling them out on presenting something as fair and true when it isn't. Think of a carnival fair where you have to toss rings around the top of a bottle. Someone might call "Shenanigans" on the game stating that the ring is too small to even fit around the top of the bottle.
In the context as it was used in this thread, it was simply stating that the poster wanted to see official results showing Bauhs ran 13:37 or else he was calling this thread out as a hoax.

the guy in the orange is Kevin Chelimo.. He was an all-american at Texas Tech. I think this was his first race in about a year and a half.. not bad running 13:4? taking 5th.
