I am building my base this summer. (85-90 mpw, 'slow' ie 100% aerobic, on trails, long run = 2 hrs.) Anyway, I run in the morning, eat breakfast, and then go to work. I ride my bike and I am usually late, so I bust my ass to get there on time. It's not far to work, perhaps 2.5 miles (10-12 minutes), but when I get there, I know that I have accuminated some lactate acid on my ride.
I have never considered my commute to work as part of my training. However, my question is this: am I hurting my goal of building an aerobic base by biking fast to work.
I just want to throw this on the board for some discussion.
