You can NEVER tell how hard someone raced when they win. That means those races from Chelenga and Rupp mean nothing. See you at Nationals!!!
I heard the NCAA XC title is worth a 20K cash Nike bonus for Rupp. Nothing like a bunch of amature college kids going at it.
Tanglewood Park is an outdoor park, formerly the site of a horse racetrack, in Clemmons, NC. There is more than one Tanglewood. It's also the site of the NC high school state championships

The course at Stanford was re-measured after after the race. It was actually 150 meters short, so Rupp still ran an incredible time. /quote]
Prove this please, or don't post it. Do you think these courses aren't measured OVER AND OVER by the incredibly anal retentive NCAA beforehand?

because chalenga had to run at tanglewood and rupp got to run on a short g-course. plus chalenga is cooler than rupp
Well said.

Before you start these Rupp threads, view the pictures and it will save Wejo's server a lot of work.
Look at the guy on the left. He's thinking the same thing as me.

it seems as rupp is in even better shape than he was at the olympics and trials he is in pr 10k track shape sub 27 shape with olympic comp?
Um, what? Please back up any of those statements with some evidence.

Yes, because it's true that they don't. It's XC, they don't need it to be accurate for statistical record-keeping purposes.
So if they don't care before the race, why would they care after the race?

Absolutely not. I imagine no one other than the host schools "officially" measure the courses before regional races.

Yup. The "they" that might "care after the race" is more likely a coach who brought a wheel with him or her. Or maybe Stanford officials listed the actual measured distance on the results sheets.
seriously, fernandez is going to win. he hasn't even put his best effort in any of the races. fernandez has so much talent and his potential will be revealed at nationals. when fernandez races with someone as good as himself, he tries to stick with them throughout the whole race and do whatever it takes to beat him. trust me, he will win nationals.
I think Chelanga will win it. As stated earlier, he was cruising effortlessly at regionals. On the finish stretch he turned around, saw no one in sight, laughed and shook his head.... After this he was dodging puddles of water if that tells you anything.
Rupp, Chelanga, Chelanga, Rupp. Either way, we (fans) are in for a real treat. Something like a Salazar/Rono dual back in the day (my day).
I do think that Chelanga is going to "feel" like he has to lead it with a fast opening 5k though and this could play well into Rupp just hanging around until 8k and then making a go of it. Neither runner challenged this season.
Could go down as one of the "great" races (both in time and effort) that we have had in awhile.
Just enjoy it.
Go Dawgs!
tony
The dark-horse is Matt Leeder from Florida State - 12th in Regional, but he is just rounding into shape, and of all SO he has the best potential.
although i think rupp will take the win, i want to see the look on his face if chelenga takes him through 2k in like 510.

"duel"
I hope it isn't like that duel (back in the day) because Rono ran off course giving salazar the win. (not sure why rono ran off course...maybe a good question for him to answer) but anyway, salazar won by the unexplainable by rono snafu.
this is going to be a great battle. I agree that rupp is probably in sub 2730 shape....but I believe chelanga is in that shape too. Its going to be fun to watch.
more like rupp poised to blow chelenga.
rupp can't hold chelenga's runderwear or cute reflective orange vest
