Is Rupp the most hated runner in the NCAA?

I would agree to this somewhat. I think people that hate Rupp are jealous of his talent and that someone like Salazar would work with him. I do not know many runner with international/national talent that would turn down the invitation to work with Salazar and the NIKE machine. He is a great runner, but at times he looks and acts like a punk kid, but remember that is all he is, a kid. Think of how you acted at his age.

On the second comment about black runners, I agree too. I hate the fact that African born college runners get the shaft because they come to the US to run and for the opportunity to succeed. To me they are more American that the lazy Americans who can\\\'t touch their toes with out haveing a smoke break.

Leave Rupp and African-born runners alone, and get a clue.

I think it's fine to hate Rupp because he comes from a priveliged background. He surely must have his servants do all the hard training for him while he sits on is ass eating caviar. I also heard that Ryan Hall gets Jesus to do his tempo runs for him, too. Only Brian Sell, who is SOOOO blue collar (whatever the hell that means, letsrun authors) actually does his own running.

Sure, it doesn't neccessarily mean he works harder. But im telling you, as someone who has watched him do days of this;

AM - 3mile warmup, 6mile tempo on grass (4.55pace), 3mile warmdown + session of flexibilty/strength

PM - 3mile warm up, 12x200 in 26point, jog 200 rec, 3mile warm down

..and sessions of this;

3mile warm up, 15x1000m at fast 10km pace, jog 3min rec, 3mile warm down

..He works harder,smarter,better,fastest than 100% of NCAA runners. Thats why he runs 27.30 at 20/21, thats why he runs top 12 at the Olympics, thats why he will win NCAA.

I HATED Rob Johnson when he played for the Bills and Doug Flutie was his backup.

Johnson made millions and Flutie made minamum yet Flutie eventually replaced him. Great story, fun to watch.

you're damn right they could. this prick might train hard, but if you don't think the altitude tent, the professional coach, the alter-g treadmill, and everything else he's gotten hasn't helped him than you're insane. i guarantee you can take the guy that comes in 70th place at nationals...take him back to 8th grade or whatever....give him the pro coach, eventually buy him an altitude tent, buy him an alter-g treadmill, and he'll be just as good as GAYlen Rupp.

I like Rupp. I hope he breaks 27:00 for 10k.

The little @##$er danced across the line of a QUALIFYING heat of the 5K at the Trials with his finger raised. It was an arrogant punk thing to do in and of itself, but, because he had no intention of even starting the final, it was exponentially worse, equal parts confounding, pompous and jackass.

I don't "hate" Mr. Rupp, but I lost all respect for him at that point. Displays like that only reinforce some of the negative preconceived notions some have about the kid.

So... is he the MOST hated runner in the NCAA? I dunno. I happen to think he's the most TALENTED. I just hope he grows up.

You could have been given everything that Galen has been given to help him improve, and you would still be only half the runner that he has become. Why? Because Galen does have talent, smarts and the work ethic to train harder than 100% of collegians.

If he's so great then why has he yet to win a major individual NCAA title? If he can't win consistently on that level then he's probably never going to amount to much on the next level(s).

haha all of the haters are probably the same people who yell at the quarterback or the receivers when something bad happens at football games, like they could do better.

I dont see a reason why you feel the need to hate on galen, all you are doing is wasting time and energy. so all of you "college runners" or people who follow it which realistically you are just some fatasses with a big mouth who think they know shit about running but really don't just need to shut up and get a life.

As for everything being "spoon fed" to him and coming from a rich family, yea, so what? I'm sure you'd do the same thing if you were rich as well. He works harder than any person I know.
