That would have been Piet van Alphen of the Netherlands who ran 2:22 and change in his early 50s...I recall vividly because that this guy with stark white hair came flying past me at about mile 21 of the 1980 Nike OTC and put 3 minutes on me in those final 5 miles...I was just 23 or 24 and I was like "who was that dude"? He was crazy fast at 50+
