I'm about to finish up my last season of collegiate running and am considering running Austin Marathon on Feb 15th. I will finish my XC season somewhere between Nov 15 and Nov 22. After that I plan to take a week really easy and then work back into training. This would leave me about 11-12 weeks to train, starting off at about 50 miles/week. My PR's are 15:25 for 5k and 32:30 for 10K, but I'll probably be in 33:00 10k shape when I start training. How likely is it for me to break 2:40 off of 11-12 weeks of 50-70 miles per week? Also, what would be the best way to train (without doing more than 70 miles/week)? I am currently thinking of doing something similar to this:
