NOT RUPP CERTIFIED
Starts on long uphill. Many rocks and ruts.. Climbs up a ski slope followed by steep downhill. Muddy conditions often occur. I suggest rup just bring a treadmill to races and when the gun goes off he can start it up

Way too many hills. It is also pretty muddy after any amount of rain.
Oh, he also has to run against Liberty harriers, which doesn't go well for him.

Ohhhh snap, was McD dishing out a royal Rupp whoopin' AND wearing a Breathe-Right to spite him? Oh damnnnnnn

This thread was great, c'mon no more zingers?
Our home x-c course was a road race. Seriously, not one step on anything but road. Rupp Certified.
My home XC course at Fremont High School (S'vale, CA) started on the track for about the first 900 meters (two+ full laps) then out around all of the sports fields on grass, another lap around the track, another lap around the sports fields, and finished with a lap around the track. So about 1/2 of the 2.1 miles on the track, and half on the grass, and effectively dead flat.
The track WASN'T all-weather surfaced, and if the football field sprinklers were going nuts it could be a little sloppy and rutty in places. So in general was a good course for Rupp, but on a bad day AlSal would have kept him off of it.
So all of this is bullshit cause guess who holds the course record on the dangerous Clackamas Community College Course that Alberto ran, you guessed it RUPP. Guess he had stronger ankles two years ago. Maybe if he spent less time on his knees giving and getting berto's tool in both ends he would have stronger ankles. I am never surprised by the over inflated sense of self importance from the Nike/Salazar gang.

You know, rojo, on a site that prides itself on the promotion and welfare of distance running, this is a pretty distasteful thread that you are perpetuating. And linking to it on the front page? What possible constructive outcome could come from this? I'm no Rupp apologist, and I find a lot of this comical, but your implied denigration of our potentially greatest homegrown distance runner-to-be is not only counter-productive, it's sophomoric. I expected more, especially from another idiosyncratic, professional coach (in another way) who shouldn't be trying to blend in as "one of the guys" at the expense of someone else.
Just catching up wtih this thread.
I don't think people understand why I posted on this thread and put it on the home page. It's not because I hate Galen Rupp or am trying to denigrate him.
I think Galen Rupp is a hell of a competitor. Did I think he was a spoiled guy coming out of HS? Yes. When I watched him run an unbelievably gutsy race his freshman year at NCAAs, I was like "Man that guy forever has my respect."
That being said, I don;t think highlighting and making fun of the advantages he has is bad for the sport. I think it's GREAT for the sport. The sport needs stars. People that fans love or hate. The Yankees and Cowboys are not liked by a huge segment of the population because they have money/stadiums, etc.
David Beckham, he is a great soccer player but he also is bigger than the sport.
RUNNING NEEDS PERSONALITIES. STORIES LIKE THIS CREATE PERSONALITIES.
I personally hate going to races and not having a horse in the race that I'm cheering for. Watching football is fun because I root for the Cowboys. When people go to USAs, they will either be rooting for Rupp or against him. Either way, it's great for the sport, for Nike and for Rupp.
I've never understood why half the people on this messageboard think running should just be a big love fest. Professionals in other sports are talked about , criticized, etc. Why not the same for running?
I mean hell. Terrell Owens is one of the greatest receivers in history and he's hated by huge parts of the population.
So this thread is all about promoting distance running.

RUPP CERTIFIED
It's been a very long time since I've run this course, but I thought of it as soon as I saw this thread. I think I took 20 seconds off my cross-country PR there, it was so smooth.
Also, if you see the word "rupp" enough times, it starts to look funny.
rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp
rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp
rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp rupp
I'm sorry, I'm extremely immature.
Decertified if rain.
If it rains at all, the sewer overflows and there are piles of crap at the start line. They even cover it with lime, just to be "safe".
Webb might run in the poo, but not Rupp.
HA! I forgot about the sewer vents at the start. That always made that course fun. Also, I ran footlocker south in 93 after there had been several days of hard rain. there is a steep downhill (albeit short, but it's still steep) in the middle of the second mile that was badly rutted from the runoff. A kid in front of me rolled his ankle on the way down...i heard it...it was bad/gross sounding. Therefore, I would agree that the course would be Rupp decertified if there were rain.
Well put. Unfortunately some people think that the sport of distance running in America should now be the "cult of Rupp".
Did you just compare Galen Rupp to David Beckham?
I think our sport needs David Beckham.

Are you saying Rupp has certified your ass? If that's what you like then more power to you.

Gopher holes everywhere. It would take multiple violations of US Fish and Wildlife regulations to bring that course up to certification.
Rain: smears his makeup.
Actually, UO's home course where they're running Bill Dellinger and Pac-10s this year is at a gold course outside Springfield. To my knowledge it's a pretty flat, even course, so I think it could pass as being Rupp Certified.
Forgive me, that would be a GOLF course.
Emporia State's course for 2008 Jock's Nitch Invitational
Emporia, KS
NOT Rupp Certified because of the many rough patches. Excessive amounts of ankle turning opportunities (a teammate of mine actually did turn her ankle, and I had to slow down to avoid twisting mine).
Would this course be Rupp Certified?
i actually give rupp personal massages on his feet, this is jim in case you were wondering.what i do to him is really revolutionary. first i strip him down to his bare feet and throw a towl over his unit. Then i lather his feet up. NExt ill tell him to relax. Then ill drop my droors, spread my ass cheeks, and fart repeatedly on both of his feet. While this is going on AL SAL is in the background preparing a fecal matter sample that i contriubuted to earlier. After i am done farting all over Galen, and some sharts may have come out, i cover every inch of his feet and legs in poop. he really is a poopy lover. After he is covered in poopy, i fart on him some more and then send him on his way. WIth this relativlely simple strategy i am able to completely strengthen and relax his muscles.
Rupp would be banned form 25 mile radius of Hereford X-C Course in Maryland.
No flat stretches, the infamous dip (with padding on the trees so runners dont accidentally hit them) and the fact Elite HS runners have a hard time running 5:15 pace there would basically make that place the Anti-Rupp course.
But at least Rexing would run it in 5:15 pace in trainers.
XC is back for another year, is your course certified?
