The NFHS no jewelry was done away with at least five or more years ago. If you are going to comment, get up to speed on current rules.

Dude must be so embarrassed to have posted something in 2008 that failed to take into account rule changes that were made 5 years ago. What a crappy psychic!

Every high school coach knows the uniform rules upside down and inside out...and rolled down. They inform their athletes that they CANNOT roll their shorts down. Yes, it is stupuid...but it is a rule that is adhered to. It makes no nevermind that the official was USATF....he was following high school federation rules...and those clearly state that you must wear the uniform only as it was intended. So too bad, the girl should have known the rules by the end of the season.
My daughter's coach doesn't know the uniform rules or the "10 practices/heat acclimation" rule.
My daughter has to relay that info to the coaches from her xc nerd dad. Everyone on her team ran illegally this fall (competing after only 8 team practices) except for her and another kid who took the SAT that day.
There are what 5 rules and you can't track those? :-(

I think it was blue, or polka-dotted at the time. Anyway, an official told his coach and said if he showed up at state with it that color -- apparently it wasn't "natural" -- he'd be DQ'd.
DQing someone for a uniform violation is one thing. DQing someone for their appearance is a whole other thing and should absolutely not be allowed. That's absolute BS right there
You bumped a thread from 2008 to say this?
Also, she made the Olympics in 2012. I think she’s over it.
Ohio girls are famous for big logos.
I got DQed once because I went commando in a race and my nuts kept flopping out. Got the girls pretty excited (and a few of the officials actually, I suspect) but some overzealous hardcase was frankly jealous of my junk so he DQed me. I asked to see the specific clause against freeballing and he could not produce it. Totally bogus.
Is it any wonder that this sport is dying out?
College is dropping it, and officials, who claim to be doing great work volunteering their time for the good of the sport, seem hell bent on driving athletes away.
No one wants to be involved in a rule driven sport. I saw comments about bun huggers and shorts being inappropriate. I can't imagine how verklempt you'd become at a swim meet.
I raced in the 70's in Australia. I was amazed when I came to run her i the states for college. I felt like I'd just joined the Amish.
What a bunch of prudes you mostly are. And don't blame the officials. Blame those who build the rules, or let them stay in place after these rants. This isn't the first rant this season. What is being done about it?
Runners should be able to wear what a swimmer wears. Make that the baseline.
