alright, its been awhile since I've been in running. In fact this weekend will be 2 years since my last race. I was 5'10/5"11 and 165 lbs and now I'm about 186 lbs.....ouch!!!!! I raced cross country/track for 3 years in HS and I absolutely loved it.
I wasn't a great runner, I'm not going to bullshit you guys. When I was 15 my best 3 mile was just under 17:50. In junior year I hit 17:30.But then for some reason I quit it all together. During those years my training miles per week ranged from 20 mpw and peaked at 55mpw. I should not that unfortunately a majority of these miles were done at a pretty solid pace since me and my teammates always tried to kill each other in practice. I was kind of disciplined during the summers and ran 300miles my first summer and 400miles my second summer. And we did all of the classic speed workouts like 10x800m @2:40, 20x400m@1:15,5x1mile @5:47, and 15x200m but cant remember the times, I definitely wasn't a speedster that's for sure.
So the question is how do i become a runner again. Lets be honest I probably will never break 4:30 in the miles or run under 16mins for the 5k but that's okay I realize I am not the most gifted. I just really enjoy long runs and the peace it gives me. My goal is to get back to 160lbs and be able to run the most miles in a day I did two yrs ago which was about 16 miles.
