Hey everyone, I'm looking for a little insight into my future 1000m/800m training. As of last year (junior), I am a 1:54/2:31 800 and 1000 runner. The times are pretty competitive in most regions, but I am looking to improve to a national level.
My question is mainly about training. If I had to guess, I appear to be more of a 8/1500 guy rather than a 4/8. My 400 splits are typically around 49.0 but I rarely run competitive miles. What would anyone recommend for attempting to drop 3-4 seconds on my times? Any input on the best ways to increase lactate threshold for younger middle distance runners who do not want to spoil their college training?
I suppose the more specific, the better. Any recommendations on ideal workouts, tempo runs, intervals, etc? I appreciate any help - Thanks!
