I was wondering, is there anything you can do indoors that is a substitute for running. Like for example, if I skip rope for an hour, would that be similar to running for any amount of time?
I will not have access to an indoor track or treadmill or stationary bike.
What is the coldest that someone can run in semi-comfortably. The coldest that I can run comfortably with a T-Shirt is about 50 degrees when the sun is out. However, at this temperature, I can only do a straight run, meaning my warm up and workout occur in a single run. I start out slow and after about 15 minutes begin to gradually increase speed until I reach a comfortable pace.
What type of clothes should I get for cold running? I see people sometimes wear tights in colder days. Does that help? Would wearing multiple layers help? What about for a top? My body usually does not get cold, but my neck and arms do.
What should I get for my hands? Gloves do not seem to work. With gloves it takes roughly 8 minutes for my hands to get completely numb and for me to lose complete control of my fingers. Without, it takes about 5 minutes. Are there any gloves that work better? Maybe mittens?
My face has similar results. Ears freeze at the same time as hands. However, a hat somewhat solves this. My nose and lips freeze at about 10 minutes and a scarf does not work.
If it is very cold and windy, my eyes freeze as well. They either tear up like crazy to the point where I can't see, or freeze slightly to where I have to close them for a few seconds. Are there any type of goggles or eye wear for the cold?
