This guy is asking for tempo advice for 5k and possibly 10k.
why is someone suggesting working up to a 75mins tempo!? Where is the logic in that when race distance is 5k and 10k?
I'm a 5k/10k runner and my tempo never exceeds 30minutes total, which is race distance.
I go for 15minute tempos at 85-90% of max hr, or 3x10minutes, 2x15minutes all at the same %'s.
By splitting the tempo with a short recovery between (no more than 3minutes) you get to keep the quality in the pace and maintain a solid average heart rate at a slightly faster pace that what you would with a longer effort.
