Okay here's a question for you geniuses out there. You've trained your balls off for 6 months and are in the best shape of your life. You wake up the morning of the big marathon (lets say chicago) and the wind is howling at 25MPH. You decide to start the race anyway and see how it goes. The wind is brutal, it's beating you down. Your legs feel fresh from your perfectly executed taper, yet your 10-15 seconds slow even over the first 10k because of the horrible wind.
My question is: at what point do you throw in the towel and hurry-up register for another marathon, lets say a week or two down the road--hopeing for better conditons. OR do you just say screw it and battle it out, run a sub-par time and go back to the drawing board and plan your next marathon.
PS: Lets all pray for nice weather at Chicago!
