Well, then get back to us in two years when you do break the record. Till then, you're not Haile.

You haters really need to lay-off him on this count. At this point, you're just trying to find something to criticize. I'm not saying its not a legitimate point, but at the same time its not like he's hurting for a olympic medals or world championship titles. Maybe he's just trying to see just how far he push his body.

To bad you are an idiot. The guy he just beat might not have "had" a pr within 2 minutes of him. But he just ran about a minute off the previous WR. There's not many other runners who can do that, especially off the pace Geb set. He was with Geb most of the race on an insane pace. It wasn't like Geb didnt have competition the whole way.
A) Not a hater, so take your tired little flame and the intellectual laziness behind it and put it back in your holster, bub. I am no more a fan of Wanjiru (or Tergat or Lel or whomever) than I am of Geb, I've got no rooting interest here.
B) That has been his m.o. in the marathon ever since he got smoked in London in 2002, along with Tergat, in the cagey Khannouchi's swan song. Since that time he has never faced better than b-level competition (Berlin, Amsterdam, Dubai, Fukuoka) over the marathon distance. That's not by accident, it's no happy coincidence at this point, it's clearly by design.
C) Why the whole hand-wringing charade over the Beijing air if he really felt that he just didn't care for another medal? Why wouldn't he just come out and say, "I have enough Olympic medals, it's someone else's time to shine on that stage"? No, he had to act like he wanted to yet feared for his life so that people wouldn't see him for the coward that he is. He has come to realize that he's nothing better than a time trialist at the marathon distance, his actions paint him as clearly being scared to face anyone who has a marathon PR within a minute or two of his own.
I guaranteed I could run faster I can go 2:03:30, in 4 years the record will be under 2 hours, whether it be at the Olympic Games or here again in Berlin
not a single mile

At my best, maybe a mile or so.
Now, about 200 meters.
The only honest post ever on letsrun!!!
(That was then) PR for 3000 m: 9:05 maybe then 2.5 km. PR for 5 km; 15:45
(This is now) maybe 200 m or more (or less). Got to watch my h-string :(
Going all out I can stay with him for 400m. But then again, I'm female masters runner
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
