Did the change in the course make it a faster course than previous years or slower?
Did the change in the course make it a faster course than previous years or slower?
Men's course I'd say was about the same...only change was the first 600m was a big U turn instead of a straight...
Women's 6k course was quite different....probably a bit slower than normal.
Men's course was probably a bit slower because of the two very tight turns at the start rather than just a straight.
Why would the womens course be slower?
Does anyone have an estimate on how much slow VCP is than Franklin Park 8k? 30 seconds?
Franklin Park's course is 7,935 meters and it's about 36-40 seconds faster than VCP's course, depending on your pace. About 11-13 seconds of that is because it's shorter. All that assumes ideal weather. A soggy FP course is slower relative to a soggy VCP course because the cinder path at Vanny won't slow you down as much if it's wet. FP is a water slide when it's really wet.
so, was the girls course slower than past years or not? and if so, why?

While I know it is September and no one owes anyone anything, so I do get it,but I think it kind of stinks that teams hold an Invite, a fairly solid one at that billed as an MOC and then hold their guys out in what should have been a nice matchup.
Again, no other point than that. Folks fly in for this, spend some real bucks and Nationally ranked HOST team run their B guys? Oh well.
ya damn, Iona should have ran their top guys just to please your whiny little ass. give me a break, november is what matters not september.
Yes, the 6k was slower than usual by 20 or more seconds. They ran Freshman Hill twice instead of once and the first time they ran up it was rather early in the course, so they didn't get a comfortable rhythm on the flats for as long as they usually do.
The 8k course had the same amount on the flats as always except the start was a loop at the South end of the course (heading North and turning around toward the South) instead of a long North-to-South start.
ahh, another Internet tough guy, read the whole post, I said it was my opinion, I could give a shit if you share it.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
