Great run by Dobriskey in the womens after rowbury beat her the last week. How do these times compare to track ones?
Thanks for the link to the results!
Did Matt Tegancamp get a podium finish at both the 5th ave mile and the CVS 5k champs in the same day? How is that possible? Did he race from the finish in Providence to NYC for the second race?
Wow.
Dobriskey and Rowbury were 2 for 2 heading into this race. They both had a fantastic 2008 track season. Dobriskey has several years racing experience at the international level. Rowbury is a newbie. They are both young and should be factors at the top level for several years to come.
Teg did not race in NYC 5th Ave mile.

Maybe 2 and 2?
David Torrence ran 3:57.5. Nice run. Of course, every time I see his name in the results for a mile race, I think of that hysterical thread about him running that downhill sub-4 mile at Berkeley several years ago. Great stuff.
that makes me laugh. i am the exact same way.
If Rankin can produce a 3:52 on the track he will be a new US 1500 meter star.
Brannen, smokes a 3:52 on the road--holy crap. Looks like he's taking the mantel as top Canadian by a mile (or 6 seconds worth of one)
Aided course, kids.

Not true today. No tail wind - just a slight 2-3 mph breeze as best. 2nd quarter of race is uphill. I'd guess 30-40 feet uphill. 3rd and 4th quarters are slightly downhill, but finish line is at higher elevation than start line.
It is not a "record standard" course because finish line is more than 30% of the 1-mile race distance away from start line. Last year there was a good tail wind, but not at all this year (I ran the 60+ age group race which took place only an hour before the men's elite race).
I remember that too - he's a letsrun legend.

If you can produce a post like that, you must be new to the sport. Rankin ran a 335.26 in 2005 (equivelent of a 352), ran a 353 at this race last year. He is one of our best already, only managed a 336 this year. Hopefully next year he can have another break through season.
I dont count 1500 meter equivalent to a mile time. He has not run a 3:52 mile. Many Americans have run a 3:35 1500, but never close to 3:52 for the mile.
beforehand, willis described the course as 3-4 seconds faster than on the track.
There is a hill, so the course is not completely flat, but it is a net downhill race, not uphill - not by a lot, but it is overall slightly downhill (the second quarter is uphill). I ran it today and there was no wind.
Nick Symmonds was never in it - imagine a full ten seconds behind the winner!
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?

Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
