Some good info on minimalism -

I struggled with injuries for several years, went through 3 different pairs of orthotics, but nothing worked. So I turned to good old letsrun where I read threads about minimalism. I thought it was crazy at first (

), but when I finally became desperate enough and felt I had nothing to lose, I tried it last year and have stuck with it ever since (I currently run in the Asics Piranha). It's not a cure-all though. It was tough to make the transition. You have to be very patient, especially if you are injury-prone like me. At first I had some achilles tendinitis, so I added a heel lift and ended up with a metatarsal stress fracture. Really I should have transitioned more slowly. One of the benefits to it is that it pretty much forces you to adapt slowly. Once your feet/ankles/calves are stronger you can fun faster and more efficiently. Anyway, the Running Times podcast is pretty interesting if you want to know more about minimalism.
