Just to give a little history, I started running a little over a year ago. During the winter after xc season I averaged 45 miles a week with a tempo, long run, and fartlek included most weeks. Track came around and I got injured first race of the year. It was a 3200 and I ran a 10:32. I was able to race, but not train the rest of the season. After track I took a week off and began summer training. It went pretty solid, averaged 60 miles a week and coming into xc I was felt strong as ever. The first race came around, pancake flat, and I ran a 18:07. Absolutly horrendous. Just to give a little perspective I was around 1730 at the 5k mark of my 5 mile tempo runs. Since then I havent had one good workout. I had a race today and ran another horrible time and got beat by kids I crushed all summer at town races. I was wondering if it could be anemia related. The days usally go like this: I start great then hit a wall somewhere along in the workout. Afterwords I recover in about a minute and feel like I just went on an easy run. Should I get blood tests done? Its defnatly not related to over training. I backed way off on the mileage just in case and im still doing horrible.
