The NCAA, IIRC, forbids 7 days/wk of organized practice. If you have a mandatory Sunday run, then you have to give up some other day during the week (not that I think that's a bad thing, necessarily). Similarly, a great many HS associations do not permit Sunday practice with a coach present.
So I'm genuinely curious: college and HS coaches who *do* get your teams to do a Sunday long run, how do you do it?
College coaches, what other day do you give up?
High school coaches, how do you get it done?
And how long is your "long" run? Mine (personally) was generally two hours or more, but I'm not convinced that that's optimum for all (I'm not convinced it was optimum for me, actually).
[I'm not interested in a discussion of religion, just in how you have your team organized.]
