Ok, so I am the type of runner who has trouble getting motivated to train alone and most of my teammates are either slackers or on vacation a lot of the time in the summer so I decided to sign up for this lame online training partner thing one night. This guy runs very similar times to me, similar training, similar everything except he's gonna be a junior and I'm a senior. Somehow, this toolbag has gotten it into his tiny little brain that his being 9 months younger than me means he totally owns me and will be some sort of state champion badass when he's "my age". He constantly gives me condescending advice which is usually generic bs that I already know, rubs it in every time he has a better training week than me (example: "LULZ ZOMG PWNED NOOB 72 MILES" since that obviously "PWNED" my 68 miles), and just generally takes every opportunity to talk trash while sounding like a complete idiot.
Anyway, I considered just not talking to him anymore, but to be honest, it is motivating and I have been training harder just because I want to outperform him this XC season and especially in track since I am more of a miler. I have never wanted to beat anyone so badly. If things go right, I will get a chance to beat him at the state meet in early November assuming we both qualify.
I have about 11 weeks to train. And I have been averaging about 55-60 miles per week. More better? And my long run is 12-15 miles. Too long? Race more? Or rest more? Less volume, more speed? Less thinking maybe?
