Oh, and yes, I was wrong about the Jersey teams. My bad. I had really thought they were ready to do better.
What were the conditions like?

Interesting as the Geneseo team peaked very well, nearly grabbing second to a very strong NYU team and Jeff Beck always peaked well while at Geneseo.

The course was really sloppy; it rained all night and throughout the day. The pack stayed together for the first 2 miles or so, then at around 3 the lead pack broke away (Kosgei, Schnieder, Henry, Nally, DuBois, Heymann, Ramsey, Chi, etc...) Kosgei pretty much cruised as expected. Cortland sat their 6-7 (O'Brien-Scrafford), so their top 5 today will be their top 7 at Nats. Looks like Jerry finally laid down the (green)Law. I think he's their best shot for a title anyways, so I'm glad he's going. NYU was impressive, SUNY G had a man way up front in addition to their tight pack, I was surprised SLU didn't do a bit better, and Plattsburgh proved all the haters wrong and sent TCNJ packing. Hopefully we'll send 5 teams; it would be a shitty way to end Tom Williams' season if not. I wish all the Atlantic teams and individuals the best of luck at nationals - represent us well!
Thanks for that but NO WAY we send 5 teams. If Plattsburgh wanted to go they had to be much closer to SLU. Being that far behind SLU and TCNJ and Ithaca not far behind them really hurt Plattsburgh's chances of going..
props to my boy Brett "2 tall" Dolan. he knows how to run when it counts

If you mean that Geneseo doesn't know how to peak for the Regionals, check this year's results and then go back 5 more years. You will see that Geneseo has sent both Men's and Women's teams for the last 6 years. Noone else in the AR can make that claim!!
If not, realize that Williams ran way better this year under Jeff Beck than he did under Nolan Swanson.

Ditto!!! Jeff took a program that was in disarray and moved it forward. 8th is probably not where he wanted them to be but it's a heck of good job. Props to you Jeff. Watch out for the Devils next year!!

Nothing against either coach but that's an ignorant statement. Williams followed Swanson's training plan over the summer (i'm assuming) because Jeff Beck was hired at the last minute. I'm pretty sure there wasn't some miraculous turnaround in the few weeks that he was under coach Beck. He was ready to run fast under anybody.

4. Geneseo - I really like their team but the best Chichester can do, in my estimation, is thirteenth.
4th is a little better than 13th. Excellent race by Chichester, he really stepped it up. Props to the next three top SUNY G runners. They\'re going to do very good at nationals if the younger Berube and/or Streb can move it up. Which Berube should be able to do.
Cortland looked weaker today. Which is to say, they still looked really strong, but they certainly didn\'t look as strong as they did at SUNYAC\'s.
I don\'t think we\'re going to be sending 5 teams to Nationals, sad to say. What happened with Heymann, Ramsey, and Guerriero? I thought Guerriero would be fighting with Kosgei and Schneider.
whatever success fredonia had was all swanson. he built this team and started to better the program. this team may have run close to national level in the next couple years had he been able to finish what he started. good luck to beck hopefully he can get them to where they were headed.
also whatever happenned to ryan o'connor from geneseo. injury? red shirt? this kid was really good and would have impacted the knights top 5.
Rochester finished exactly where they should have. no big suprise there
does anyone know when/where the NCAA at large bids are posted?

ditto! rochester doesnt really have any frontrunners which severly hurts them at a big meet like regionals. if you look at the results all there guys are within a minute i believe. they have tight pack which is good but that pack is simply not fast enough to compete.

How Bout Dat SUNYAC Conference!!!!

4 teams in the top 7 women
Go Yacs
screw the sunyac...go Vassar!
SLU with a weak showing in 4th place. Ramsey with a weak 7th place showing. Can the kid control his facial muscles?

I know (from experience) that it takes a year or two to get to know runners. Look at what Beck walked into as a first year coach. A veteran runner who had just began to come into his own (Walters), a wild-card who red-shirted his first year (Novara) and Williams who I'm guessing was held back by Swanson to be let loose these next two years. Is it any wonder that they didn't know how their bodies peaked? Judging Beck as a runner/coach who probably trains and coaches much as he did at Geneseo: personalization of workouts and peaks is the name of the game. In his situation I would have done the same thing in tempering my end-of-year training with the feedback of my runners. The reason you didn't see this with Cortland under Patrick is because he had a much more seasoned top 5(-9), and because the team is probably still peaking in much the same way they did last year. Give Beck the credit he deserves. He walked in and picked the program up, continued pushing it down the right path. It's a young team that I hope gets the recruits it deserves in the coming years and really excels under its new coach.
woah nelly- i think everyone gets that you don't like SLU or Ramsey. i agree with you that both SLU and Ramsey are somewhat overrated. I wouldn't call SLU's 4th "weak" but with such a huge gap to Genseo you could make a valid argument that 4th wasnt an at large bid worthy performance. That being said they both ran well, you especially can't knock Ramsey for 7th, he ran a good race and beat some good runners, Heymann, Guerriero, Stenuf, etc.
Why dont you do everyone a favor and shut the f*** up.
IMO cortland is on the downslide. With their HGH scam recently uncovered, they're bound to see a sharp decrease in fitness. I heard that recent Cortland Turkey trot 2nd place finisher reid mcGrath will have to replace josh henry because of a positive drug test (caught using meth and high doses of rodent pesticide)
