Who is the best freshman this year in the nation? True freshman or redshirt.
Lockhart for Wisconsin gets my vote.

Meindel has looked good for Stanford.
Tim Moore maybe. Lockhart a true freshman? Technically its true but he is old enough to be the father of the guys he is running against(I'm joking but he is too old to be a freshman).
thats bull crap about Lockhart, because he ran at Jr. worlds last year. So at worst he could only suppose to be a sophmore in college.
Tim
Nurani Sheikh, but its still early. And Bairu finished close to Lockart at Griak. Also, who cares about Lockhart's age? It was eastablished that red-shirt freshmen count so that cancels the age argument.
i'll throw one out for joe thorne
It's early october, let's decide when the real running starts in about a month. Hell, some of the players hAVEN'T EVEN OPENED UP YET!
My boy Joey Thorne is rippin it up. I hope he's having the time of his life. And if anyone can get joe's e-mail for me it'd be great, I'd love to hear from the kid. And if you read this Joe hope your not having too much fun, and hope you like the heat down there.
But my pick is Lockhart for freshman of the year. Joe for freshman steeple chaser of the year.
Tim

You guys are foregtting Boaz Cherrybomb
although he might not be the best, the guy from Illinois (Jason Bill I think...) is looking mighty tough. I saw him run sub 25 minutes while talking the whole time.
He could be pretty good before he is done.
The thing with Stanford is, they will probably red-shirt their entire frosh class (or most). So, althought peter did run a nice 23:57 on a course that was about 45 secs. fast, he probably won't compete for Stanford this year.... nor will any of their frosh who would undoubtedly be running varsity for most other squads in the nation! If they are developed well, I see a couple more national championships for Stanford in the future.

There lies the problem, they won't be developed well. The majority of this class, just like many others at Stanford, will bomb out. There will be few, if any, national titles in the future.
Tim Moore gets my vote. Lockhart is overrated. I also like Willis of Michigan, i think that he could be a dark horse at nationals this year in XC.
I don't know about *the* best, but check out Joe Thorne of UT -- 2 races right around 25 flat. Not bad for a Georgia boy in Texas...
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
