As a runner, I know I would never go near U of O or the OTC. I am VERY into running and running culture but the people up there act like pretentious, high society athletes. Because they train in Oregon they think they are better than everyone else. I prefer an environment where people are deeply invested the the sport, but don't have that type of attitude.
That being said, I can see why Chad transfered to UCR, but I think he did it for bad reasons. I would have picked a stronger program with some really nice places to run rather than a crappy school with a bad team. But, his decisions are his own so I can't criticize what I don't know about. I suppose that should go for my criticism of Oregon as well, but from what I do know and have heard I stand by my opinions. I wish Chad the best of luck and hopefully he will do well at Riverside.
