I live in Texas and will be going to Breckenridge, CO next week. I'm training for several triathlon races later this summer...the first one being one week after my return from Colorado. I will be there for a full week and don't want to lose the fitness level I have achieved to date. Is there anything I need to do/consider prior to running at ~8000 feet above where I am sitting today? I'm sure I won't be able to do the same length runs I do here, and that i should take it slow...but any advice on avoiding altitude sickness, getting dehydrated or maximizing workouts while at elevation would be appreciated.
