Seriously, what is the deal with this phenomenon? A lot of distance runners look at speedwork as an injury-inducer, whereas sprinters do speedwork almost exclusively and surprisingly do not die from it.
Is it that distance runners are afraid of peaking too soon that they shy away from speedwork so much? And are sprinters terrified that over-distance training will kill their speed (equally ridiculous)?
