At the very top levels, I don't think there is a clear favorite. A case can be made for 4 or 5 guys to win. However I feel that it will come down to Boaz and Torres, and the winner will be the one who races best on that day. They both will be physically and mentally prepared, I think it will be a contest of race strategy.
Ever since Boaz showed up he has never really been challenged. He uses a blistering first half of the race to shake off everyone and intimidate them from really challenging him. His second half is strong, but not as strong as most of the top 10-15 guys in the race. He has yet to be challenged over the last two miles, except for at Griak, where he was defeated. I think if Torres works his strategy around what he knows Boaz will do he can beat him. I would think that he would let Boaz go, but not too far ahead and then try to run him down in the second half, where Torres should be stronger. And the success of Torres could depend on how much help he gets from other guys in the race. If he has to run Boaz down alone it could be tough, but if some other guys are there to help him catch Boaz, it could be done.
He was born in Chicago, dork.
