Simple question. When recording weekly mileage should the warmup/warmdown miles be counted?
Simple question. When recording weekly mileage should the warmup/warmdown miles be counted?
Yes. If you are running, it counts.
I do. Except on race days for no particular reason. On race days I just put the actual race distance. Probably so I can record my race time and pace accurately.
I do but only because it is significant amount of mileage. I always wu 3 miles minimum and cd 4 miles. If I am usually doing 5 workouts every 2 weeks. That is 35 miles over a 2 week period or 70 miles a month.
Running is running.
NO dude. Miles only count it they are under 5 minutes 30 seconds dude and you have to be wearing h streets and a cotton shirt. Anything else is yuppie jogger miles dude.
You have to say dude a lot too when you are running dude.
Thanks dudes,
Consensus seems to be to include warmup/down. Does this mean somebody doing 70 miles (excluding warmup/down)a week in 10 sessions will say they do approx 100 miles (ie 20 x 1.5 miles warmup/down)?

No. They will use a fairly simple formula as follows.
Count the number of miles they run (excluding warmup/down miles) a week.
Count the number of warmup/down miles they run a week.
Add these two figures together.
[The bright sparks out there will realise that this formula can be further simplified as follows:
Count the number of miles they run a week.
[Please note that this may or maynot total approx 100 miles.]

LOL!
But dude... this is bad news for me... must edit my logs... significantly. Does this mean I can't wear running clothes that match?
Dude, you can never wear clothes that match. Running logs are for yuppies too. I just write the miles on my garage wall. My Mom used to yell at me a lot about that until I turned 30, then she stopped.
of course!!! I even count strides, because at 4-8x100, that's .5 to 1 mile:)

Writing logs in any form is for yuppie running trif@gs. My workouts are so intense, my focus so laser-like that each mile I run is permanently seared into my memory.
To answer your original question:
Do your muscle fibers count miles, or do they simply respond to specific stress?
