So I tried using the search function to no avail to find an active thread on this. I have been pretty anti-weights my whole career but I am starting to rethink it. I lifted sporadically in high school and am now entering my sophomore year in college where I really didn't lift much at all freshman year. I do a pretty intense ab/core/back workout (totaling 15 minutes of work and including planks, "bird dogs", "dead bugs" back bridges, and crunches) 2-3 times a week that helped me tremendously. I am a 5k guy who will probably run the 5 and 10 next year. I am hoping to get up to about 90 miles a week over the summer. Part of the reason I am wondering about lifting is because my arms go very much side to side when I run and I hold them very low. I have tried to run with more efficient arms but it feels unnatural. Will lifting help this? Also, if I were to lift, would it make the most sense to do it the same days I do core stuff or different days? Will it keep me from recovering from runs effectively? Thanks and if you can find an active thread on this to redirect me to that would be helpful as well.
