And quite honestly, I don't think this is a bad thing. I love red wine. I don't get drunk. I space it over about 6hrs. I feel fine the next day. My running is not affected.
But several people around me have expressed shock / dismay / concern about this. Should I be having some doubts, good people of letsrun?

What's right for one person isn't right for another. My intitial reaction was to say that's too much, but then over six hours with no other effects, I don't know. We're all different. I know for ME it would be too much.

Red wine is just about the healthiest (and best tasting) alcohol you can find so if you are going to drink anything I would say thats the best choice. You are getting a bunch of empty calories though.

The health benefits are talking about MODERATE use of alcohol. This means = one 250ml drink for women and 2 for men. Not 6 drinks.
So don't pretend it's healthy.
Also, are people commenting about your behavior during these sessions or just expressing their opinions after you tell them about it?
2 250ml = 500....i dont see how 3 is going to hurt him, esp. if he is larger than average that would be about 2 for a little guy.
Honestly, Man (I assume you're a dude), I think that's too much. Of course it varies from person to person but just think about what you're saying for a minute. An entire bottle of wine every night.....every....night. People can take almost any bad habit and think of a dozen ways to justify the behavior because, well, you really want to keep doing it. According to your testimony you don't get really drunk and it doesn't affect your life adversely. Maybe so, but I'd be willing to bet you aren't being entirely honest with yourself about this because you don't want to quit doing it. And I'll bet the only reason you started this thread was to get support for your habit. You'll ignore the posts like this one and focus instead on the posts supporting your behavior.
The bit about health benefits is bollocks because alcohol free wine gives exactly the same health effects, but without any negative health effect that comes from the alcohol itself.

Oops that's 125 ml per glass. See? People have different ideas about how much a "glass" is but standard is 125m so about he's not drinking 3 drinks but a bottle. Some people like to think a bottle is only 3 drinks, oh well...
Dude, a bottle of wine is approx. equal to 5-6 12oz Bud Lights. It's not an excessive amount of alcohol.
However, you might want to see if you can not drink any wine for a couple of weeks. If this is really difficult, you may be an alcoholic.

Uhhh, I don't see the problem unless you are UNABLE to wind down after a long day or UNABLE to go to sleep and relax without it (you can test this by what a pp said and try to go without it and see...). And, it doesn't matter if you drink it alone either. I drink wine alone (and beer too!) all the time. I work all day with people and noise, so when I come home after my run, all I want is a quiet house and some food and wine/beer. Sometimes it ends up being a whole bottle or 3/4ths of one... Plus my only roommate is a canine... Cheers!
Unless you're drinking absolute crap that's gotta be a very expensive weakness.
I say switch to 40s before you go broke and save money for hospital bills down the road.

The podcast I linked above discusses this point (and largely dismisses it) particularly between the 10 and 14 minute. If you can point to a study that says otherwise, I'd be interested in seeing it.
Wouldn't that be a few hundred extra calories a day too?
If I were you, I would ask myself why I have six hours every night to spend drinking, but if you're comfortable w/ that answer, then what the hell...

No, it's not an excessive amount of alcohol if this were an every-now-and-then sort of thing. But hell, we're talking about a nightly occurrence. A bottle of wine every night. That's alot of f***ing wine for one person. The volume of alcohol he's consuming in one night is not the issue of concern here. It's the fact that he's doing it habitually. I'm guessing it started with a glass or two and evolved to 750ml over time as he developed a tolerance. Just because he isn't getting sloshed and beating his woman doesn't mean there isn't a problem.
To the OP, I'm not trying to judge you here or make you feel bad. I had a habit similar to yours for a while. I'm just suggesting that you be honest about your habits and their origins, development, purpose, etc. You may find that you have a problem, maybe not. But I really don't think advice like, "Aw man, a bottle of wine ain't shit! Drink up!" is helpful.
