This is the most unarguable debate in LR history. When we all saw and heard from German's coach that he runs 60 mpw, does 200's no quicker than 30s, first time under 9 flat was a national HS record @ 8:34, and played basketball and soccer full time only 2 years ago the argument of nature vs nurture was inherently over. If anything, I'm curious to if he is more naturally talented than the "former" most talented HS kid I've ever seen/heard of: Abdirizak Mohamed (sp). We will never know the kinds of abilities this kid had; sorry for the distraction...
I am 100% with R. Scribner: after you've put in miles upon miles year after year with (literally) hundreds of speed works than you'll understand that this guy is just a natural talent. If he jogged 30 miles a week and shot hoops everyday, he'd still run close to or possibly under 9 flat! As for the explanation of what talent means, that's another waste of time. If you're not sure what "natural talented" means everything you say afterwards is just null and void.
This thread should have been over a long time ago. At this point, I'm most curious to see how he adjust to NCAA's. I hope to death that he, Derrick, Fout, Puskedra, and the other slew of great HS runners from the Class of 08 continue this *new* era of great American distance runners.
