If I recall correctly, after Defar broke the 5,000m WR, VIpam (I believe it was) said that Dibaba would destroy all of her (Defar) records.
It has come to pass.
That rivalry will keep growing and today, Dibaba threw more firewood into that fire.
I hope she doubles at the Olympics.
If you can't run 58sec at the end of a 30min 5k, then you've got no leg speed.
I wonder, is she really even a real woman? Did she manage conquer her biology?
She and Meseret are making everyone reevalute the event.
The 5000 has finally caught up to all the Chinese "records".
Well, except perhaps the 8:06...

Dibaba is not as mentally strong as Meseret Defar...but she has more raw talent.
Her sister Genzebe Dibaba has more raw talent.. but a similar shy and quiet behavior
She ran 15:02 today on perhaps a fast 1st k. Even paced she is in 14:50. By next year she will be running sub 14:40.
She looks stronger, taller, tougher and faster than her sister at the same age.
Look out for G Dibaba.
Jenny Rhines beats one Dibaba and gets pounded by two other Dibabas.

Thanks for the links to pictures from AFP and Reuters.
To put this performance in perspective: Dibaba's time would be at or very close to the top of most (if not all) Division 1 men's mid-major conferences, would easily get in to the division men's nationals, and would have an excellent chance of winning at the D3 and NAIA men's nationals.
women's sub 14 coming soon!
Short video
How soon until she takes a crack at the 10k WR? Using the old 'double it and add a minute' conversion, her 14:11 puts her at 29:22. I'd love to see her take that one down.
Come on man!! 14:11 The D1 regional qualifying standard is 14:12. I am willing to bet that 98% of the posters on this board have never run that fast!!! I haven't, I can tell you that. It is just hard for me to believe that a 'clean' female can do this!! Thats just my opinion. To me it is hard to believe. If she is clean then god damn!! In my eyes the tests are not reliable, because money talks!!! If you know what I mean.
I think I have said this before in this forum.
The culture of doping and druging has not yet arrived to the camp of East African runners. It never will! It is against the code of the warrior!
I hope that shade some lights to the doubters.
PS: Alene Emere who has been living in the states has dopped once and been clean for many years.
