The fastest Webb ever ran by himself in high school was 3:59. His 3:53 was set up for him perfectly, all he had to do was hitch a ride on the El G train. He didn't do any work at all in that race (not taking anything away from Webb, just saying the circumstances were totally different).
In track German>Ritz, perhaps not in XC.
I'd say that he is indeed "on their level".
I don't know why people on here are so resistant to giving this kid the accolades he deserves. He is an amazing talent. When German set the state meet record in XC people downplayed it, despite all of the fast guys who've run on the WWP course. Now he backs it up with a stellar track season and people still can't acknowledge that he's something special.
4:00 and 8:34 solo? Very few people have won CA state titles in both the 1600/3200, and while that may not be a record, his deuce is a national record (as stated previously). That is indeed a laurel that he can wear.
